A little piece of Belgium in the air. Inspired by the brilliance of Belgium’s most iconic landmark, our Airbus A320 named "Atomium" reflects the symbol of progress, innovation and national pride.

This model of an Airbus A320-200 with the registration OO-SNM is a very special collector’s item.

This high-end model aeroplane on a scale of 1:200 on an elegant stand is easy to assemble and has been faithfully produced with attention paid to every last detail. The wings and stand need to be connected to the fuselage by means of a plug connection. No adhesive is required for assembly.

The design: a work of art at 30,000 Feet

Brussels Airlines held a contest to design their next Belgian Icon. Over 900 drawings were submitted! After a public vote, the top 5 creations were presented to an external jury featuring Sandra Kim (Eurovision winner), Alex Callier (Hooverphonic), Philippe Geluck (Le Chat), Sandrine Corman (TV Host), Michèle George (paralympic athlete), Gabrielle Szwarcenberg (fashion designer), Elisia Poelman (painter), Griet Aesaert (designer), alongside Brussels Airlines CEO Dorothea von Boxberg and Michel Moriaux, Head of Marketing.

The Atomium livery, originally designed by Thomas Faes (Faes Architecture) and winner of our “Design your Belgian Icon” contest, embodies a creative interpretation of the Atomium’s nine interconnected spheres. It was chosen as it closely aligns with the Airline’s ambition: “Representing the best of Belgium to the world”. 

A flying tribute to innovation

The Atomium was originally constructed for the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair, showcasing the spirit of progress and international collaboration. Today, it stands as an enduring symbol of Belgium’s creativity and forward-thinking vision. With this latest Belgian Icon, Brussels Airlines brings that vision to the skies, transforming one of its aircraft into a soaring tribute to the Atomium’s unique design, historical significance and bright future.
